Created in collaboration with the renowned World Whiskey Society, each barrel is carefully selected, aged, and bottled by WWS to deliver a bourbon that is approachable, balanced, and enjoyable for both seasoned bourbon enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The vision behind Buttery Brown Bourbon was simple: create a classic, easy-drinking bourbon equally at home poured neat, over ice, or mixed into a great cocktail. A bourbon meant to be shared after a long day on the river, around a campfire, or with good company.

The Story Behind Buttery Brown Bourbon. Everyone has their reason for fly fishing. For some, it’s simply a peaceful way to spend time outdoors — a chance to slow down and disconnect. For others, it runs much deeper. For me, fly fishing became something far more important. After experiencing a frightening episode of Transient Global Amnesia — a sudden and temporary loss of memory brought on by stress, overwork, and migraines — I found himself at a crossroads. The experience was a wake-up call. Life had become consumed by work, pressure, and constant motion. I needed something that could pull him away from the noise and force him to live fully in the moment.

That something was fly fishing. What began as a way to slow down quickly became transformative. Standing in a river, focused entirely on the rhythm of casting, current, and drift, Hanson found an escape unlike anything else he had experienced. Fly fishing became a way to reconnect with nature, quiet his mind, and rediscover balance.

As explored in my award-winning documentary The Day I Disremembered, fly fishing didn’t just help — it may have saved my life. Years later, inspired by that journey and the beauty of the rivers, trout, and places fly fishing led me to, I envisioned a bourbon that paid tribute to it all. Today, that vision lives on in Buttery Brown Bourbon — a spirit born from the river, crafted in honor of the pursuit, the escape, and the moments worth slowing down for.
